A 6 bottle selection featuring a set of Red Languedoc Wines well worth discovering.
This case includes:
1 x Domaine Sicard
Deep garnet robe with tawny reflections, intense nose, spice, cocoa, cherry stone, cinnamon tobacco. The mouth is rich and dense where we find spices, cocoa and vanilla. Soft tannins and a silky beautiful presence.
1 x Vivien Roussignol
Elegant fruit. Flinty with long finish and persistent after-taste, best with seafood or goat cheese.
A classy wine, always very consistent over the years.
1 x Mas de Farjou
Rich, fine, delicate, developing aromas of blackberry, white truffle with balsamic notes and eucalyptus.
1 x Domaine Sainte Cecile du Parc
Deep ruby colour. Aromas driven by black fruit, smoky spices and herbs. Generous palate with opulent, complex fruitiness, oriental spices and Sichuan pepper.
1 x Domaine Coste Rousse
Mixture of Syrah and Grenache grapes, aged one year in new oak barrels.
1 x Domaine Pierre Cros
Low yield and vines dating from 1905 contribute to this most fascinating and popular wine. The wine is deep and structured yet so easy to drink. It is dark in colour and has depth without being overpowering.
Mas de Farjou
Bought in 2005 by Stéphane and Christine Mouton, this vineyard had the ultimate aims of producing the best possible quality in winemaking, which resulted in 4 different vines (6 hectares) being replanted. Now using a drip irrigation system, this vineyard is classified as organic. The grapes grown at this vineyard are Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Grenache Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. They 'train' the vines using a technique called 'cordon de royat double' which refers to hard cane pruning, helping the winemakers to be more respectful to the land.
Domaine Coste Rousse
The Domaine is situated in the village of Malagas near Beziers in Cotes de Thongue. The family Taix, with an array of 11 different grapes 4 for the whites and 7 for the reds produce a fascinating range of very well made wines. We have great belief in this totally dedicated family. Considering the array of options with so many grapes available, we think the future is bright.
Domaine Pierre Cros
An ex-rugby player, Pierre Cros is known as the King of Concentration – so, unsurprisingly, his wines are full-bodied and entirely superb! Les Aspres regularly wins the coveted three-star award from Guide Hachette, and Pierre also produces a stunning red wine made with Carignan grapes.
Some of his vines were planted as far back as 1905, and the results are no less than historic - lookout, in particular, for the aptly named red Vieilles Vignes, and the highly recommended Minervois Tradition red, made with 5 different grapes.
