Located in Bordeaux, Pomerol is famous for its sweet red wines. The main grape varieties used in this appellation is Merlot and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. There is no actual village to Pomerol, because all the houses are set by their vineyards. In the 16th Century, the vineyards swapped from white grape varieties, to red, being Bordeaux the first documented Merlot in Bordeaux.
These wines normally have a bold personality with softer tannins. Pomerol wines normally pair best with beef wellington, pork, or cheese.
