    Desserts Wine Pairing


    There’s nothing like ending dinner with a sweet note, and that’s where desserts, cakes, tarts and other sweets come in. Dessert is not the end of a meal but the beginning of long hours of conversation at the table, and wine can help.

    To pair dessert with wine, there’s only one rule. The wine must be sweeter than the food. Some desserts are mildly sweet, like a sponge cake or a fruit tart. Others are luscious, like a decadent chocolate cake. Luckily, there’s wine at all sweetness levels, particularly in the French repertoire, meaning there’s a wine style to pair with every dessert.

    Alsace is known for its sweet wines, which are often of the highest level, and let’s not forget about Sauternes in Bordeaux and its similarly sweet neighbours in the Sud-Ouest. Languedoc-Roussillon also offers a great variety of sweet white and red wines, from the fortified Banyuls to the famous Muscat de Rivesaltes, up north in the Rhône.

    No matter which wine you chose from our sweet wine selection, an exquisite pairing with your dessert is guaranteed, and wine certainly makes the sweet course much more enjoyable.
