Tasting Notes

2018 can be described as a very generous vintage, rain in the spring and a hot, dry summer giving wines with a deep ruby colour and an expression of ripe black fruit. The tannins are well integrated.

The grapes are hand-picked, 100% de-stemmed and placed in vats. After a prefermentation in vats at low temperature, the alcoholic fermentation begins.

Punching of the cap is carried out twice a day during this fermentation. The wine is then raised in oak barrels for 18 months (with 30% new oak). It was racked three times during this period and was bottled after fining without being filtered to ensure all the aromas are fully preserved.

Maurice Gavignet

It was at the beginning of the 19th century that Honoré Gavignet, winemaker at the Domaine de la Romanée Conti founded his own "pre-square" in the heart of Burgundy Wine, in Nuits St. Georges.

A man of the land, Honoré passed on his passion to his son Maurice - Father and Son develop the activity within the family property, the current headquarters of the Domaine.
