Muscat de Rivesaltes
Muscat de Rivesaltes originates from the Roussillon region of southern France, which exhibits the hottest climate throughout France's wine producing regions. It enjoys such a climate due to the bordering foothills of the Pyrenees which act as a heat trap and create a meteoclimatic amphitheatre in which the vineyards thrive. Muscat de Rivesaltes is made from the Muscat grape which comes in two varieties; Alexandria Muscat and Muscat Petits Grains. Our Muscat de Rivesaltes is produced by Domaine Boudau from 100% Muscat of Alexandria, grown on a terroir of red mediterranean soil over a bed of Corbières limestone.
This results in a vivacious dessert wine of an intense golden colour that delight the nose with a complex bouquet of lemon, honey and almond that lingers with a fresh harmonious finish. Muscat de Rivesaltes is to be enjoyed at ice temperature and is the perfect partner for any dessert, becoming increasingly popular during the festive periods as they go particularly well with christmas puddings. In more recent times there has been a drive to pair this wine with spicy foods as it has been discovered that the two create an unlikely synergy.
