Vin de Pays
Vins de Pays (VDP) is a French wine classification meaning 'country wine' but has a closer meaning of 'regional wine' because it is made in a region with a specified allowed grape variety, which is below Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) standards.
The VDP is less strict with its winemaking specification than the AOC, however superior to Vin de Table. Vin de Pays is normally from traditional varieties like the AOC wines, meaning these are declassified, however, still tested and analysed.
