Domaine Gilles Guerrin: A Family Story in the Heart of Burgundy
In the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, Domaine Gilles Guerrin is a family story built over generations, carried forward with care and passion.
Blandine Guerrin represents now the fourth generation of her family to work the vines. Her great-grandparents and grandparents were already winegrowers, but didn’t bottle their own wine. Blandine’s father, Gilles Guerrin, created the domaine in 1984, when he decided to bottle and sell the family’s wines for the first time.
Today, the domaine covers 14 hectares of vineyards in the Maconnais and produces around 60,000 bottles a year, continuing a long family tradition.
Working the Vines by Hand
In this part of Burgundy, the work is mostly manual. The Gerrin vineyard is scattered in very small plots, which are often on steep slopes. This makes the use of machines often impossible, and takes more time and effort.
Changes in the specifications of the appellations bring its own challenges, such as the treatments allowed to protect the grapes against disease. However, that benefits the reputation of the Maconnais, and its recognition on the international winemaking scene, making it maybe the most dynamic area in Burgundy.
Many Parcels, Many Wines
One of the special things about domaine Guerrin is the number of vineyard plots. The estate’s 14 hectares are spread across 48 different parcels, each with its own soil, slope, and character.
This allows the family to create a wide and interesting range of wines — currently 12 different cuvées — compared to their neighbours, with every wine reflecting where it comes from.
Looking to the Future
Like all winegrowers, the Guerrin family has to adapt to changing weather and climate conditions. Blandine Guerrin is working daily to find the right balance between protecting the vines, respecting the local terroir, and keeping the quality of their wines high.
Their plans for the future are to develop their wine sales and gradually increase production capacity, while staying true to their identity and values. Growth, for them, is about continuity — not industrialisation.

The Wine She Always Comes Back To
Blandine’s personal favourite from the range is the Saint-Véran “Cuvée Prestige”. Vinified and aged for 12 months in oak barrels, it perfectly balances the fresh fruit character of Saint-Véran and the delicious buttery texture of the wine. She loves its versatility, as it is equally at home as an aperitif, with simple meals, gourmet dishes, or cheese — a wine that feels just as comfortable at a dinner party as it does at a relaxed table with friends.
At Hourlier Wines, we are proud to work with Domaine Gilles Guerrin — a Burgundy producer where wine is not just a product, but a family story, passed down through generations and shaped by patience, care and respect for the vineyard.
