After our top 10 French Red Wines, the team at Hourlier Wines has prepared a selection of promising white wines from each corner of France.

From our well-known producers to new additions and unusual grapes, this top 10 brings a mix of fine appellations and little gems, worth putting on every wine rack. Here are our Top 10 French White Wines for 2026.

    1. Provence - Domaine de Rousset, Les Coquelicots Rolle

Les Coquelicots is a lovely Vermentino (Rolle) that shows the distinct character of the higher terroir of Provence, where Domaine de Rousset produces sustainable wines. Aromatic, refreshing and intense on the nose, the wine opens with citrus peel and floral aromas, followed by persistent tropical fruit. Deliciously drinkable, this is a wine to have in hand for social events. Enjoy with seafood, salads and light meals.

    2. Sud-Ouest - Domaine Barreau, BARO N° 2

Two miles from Gaillac, the award winning Domaine Barreau tends 34 hectares of vines, using local grapes such as Mauzac here. BARO for 'Brilliant, Aromatique, Rond, Oncteux', this Mauzac and Sauvignon blend shows a tangy fruitiness, with a full body but refreshing finish that makes it an easy sipper. Pair with white fish, shellfish, and Mediterranean cuisine.

    3. Loire - Domaine Moncourt, Roche Noire, Chardonnay

Chardonnay from the Loire Valley is not that well-known, and Domaine Moncourt is an excellent example of the local expression of the grape. The estate’s Roche Noire is a beautiful medium-bodied white wine with aromas of apples, citrus and pineapple. Time spent on fine lees gives the wine a rich texture and bakery aromas. Enjoy on its own, with shellfish, or cheese.

    4. Loire - Domaine Masson-Blondelet, Les Pierres de Pierre, Pouilly Fumé

Flinty and refreshing, with hints of white fruit, herbs and citrus, this beautiful Sauvignon Blanc offers a medium body thanks to time spent on fine lees. The Domaine Masson Blondelet crafts some of the finest Pouilly Fumé, the rarest and most age-worthy Sauvignon in France. Enjoy with white fish, shellfish, or soft cheese.

    5. Rhône - Domaine Croze Granier Cuvée L’Escatillon, Gard

Rhône whites are rich and flavourful. Domaine Croze Granier’s L’Escatillon is no exception. The combination of Chardonnay and Vermentino results in a medium-bodied aromatic white wine with hints of tropical fruit and white flowers. With a natural freshness that comes from the rock leaning against the estate's cellar, called l'Escatillon, this balanced dry wine is the perfect partner to seafood classics and fish.

    6. Sud-Ouest - Domaine Horgelus, Côtes de Gascogne, Colombard-Sauvignon

A best seller in our range year on year, Domaine Horgelus blends Colombard and Sauvignon from the Côtes de Gascogne to produce a thirst-quenching white wine with citrus and floral aromas. The palate is pure and clean, making the wine food-compatible and a wonderful apéritif. This is an exciting wine from an up-and-coming region, at an unbeatable value. Try cold on its own or with canapés and fried finger food.

    7. Languedoc-Roussillon - Domaine Dupont-Fahn, Viognier

Made with the most elegant aromatic white varietal, Domain Dupont-Fahn’s Pays d’Oc Viognier is a treat to the senses. Full-bodied and with scents of ripe pitted fruit, mango, and subtle oaky vanilla, this deliciously dry white wine can tackle hearty white meat dishes, such as roasted poultry and pork.

    8. Sud-Ouest - Domaine Roumagnac O Grand R, Fronton

The Roumagnac family has tended the vines around Villematier in the Haute-Garonne for for generations. Their wines made with the local grape Negrette are unique in the world. However, it is their Chardonnay which has caught our attention this year. With aromas of white flowers, citrus peels, and roasted notes, this medium-bodied white is both rich and refreshing. Try with butter-seared seafood or roast chicken.

    9. Languedoc-Roussillon - Domaine Boudau, Malvoisie Pure Souche

Pierre and Veronique Boudau do a wonderful job at preserving rare local grapes at their home in Rivesaltes. Made with Malvoisie du Roussillon, an old forgotten indigenous grape variety, their Malvoisie Pure Souche is a vibrant wine with floral and citrus aromatics along with flavours of white fruit. The dry, medium-bodied palate has a very nice length. This aromatic speciality is wonderful with seafood or on its own.

    10. Bordeaux - Château Les Bertrands, Cuvée Tradition, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux

An elegant Sauvignon with a splash of Muscadelle. A fantastic example of modern white Bordeaux by the Dubois family, independent vignerons in Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux. Cuvee Tradition is all about lemongrass and citrus aromas and a zesty, light-bodied palate that invites you to take another sip.
