The palate begins with a delightful sweetness, offering rich fruit flavours that gradually evolve into a more dry and spicy finish. The wine's nice acidity brings freshness and balance, supporting its elegant structure. Despite its boldness, the wine retains a delicate and complex profile, with layers of flavour unfolding seamlessly from start to finish.

A brick-red appearance with medium depth and a light orange rim. On the nose a slightly smoky/vanilla aroma from the very old seasoned pipes casks follows through with aromas of marmalade, raisins and dried apricots. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a mellow lengthy spirit-driven finish.

Fine, elegant, mineral but not balsamic, the floral and fruity character are enhanced. The taste continues fine, although it's a tannic wine. Rich but not excessive and with a long spicy aftertaste. Impressive finesse even though robust.

This port features rich notes of dried fruits and figs, complemented by a nutty undertone and a hint of cherry blossom. The sweetness of brown sugar is balanced by a medley of spices, creating a complex and harmonious profile. The finish is lingering and spicy, with a perfect balance of sugar and acidity.

A great Vintage, showing beautiful concentration, vigour and complexity, but with plenty of finesse and remarkable freshness. The 2015 gives us a silky wine, with great structure and incredible balance thanks to its taut acidity and lower level of sweetness, which results in a fresher wine.

Colheitas are dated Tawnies aged in small casks. The minimum age requirement is 7 years, but the tradition at Niepoort is to age several more years before bottling. The wine takes on a Tawny hue. Wood and nutty tones are evident on the palate due to the wine’s slow ageing in old casks. This particular vintage is from 1963.

The true potential and style of this wine really comes together on the palate with wonderful integration of dark fruits with a grainy tannic structure, pairing volume with amazing balance and elegance and an impressive finish.

Vintage Port must be bottled within two or three years of the harvest date. The magic of Vintage Port is different in every phase: as a young wine it captures the youthful fruit characters. Then, after 20 years or more, the effects of the slow bottle age integration are revealed and finally, after many decades, the spirit dominates the wine.

The demijhon bottles are from the 18th century, and ageing in these special bottles adds a unique character to the Garrafeira Portwine.

Late Bottled Vintage port is from a single year. The wine ages 4-6 years in old oak casks (opposed to Vintage that ages 2-3). LBV fills the gap between the rubies and the vintage ports since a Ruby Port should be drunk quite young and a great Vintage Port may need 15 to 20 years to really open up and show its splendour.
