Château de Dracy is a family estate located in Couchoisin the south of the Côte de Beaune. The wines are vinified in the 18th century vat room and cellar located next to the medieval castle, built in 1298 then remodelled in the 16th century (construction of the dungeon), 18th century (vat room and cellar) and finally in the 19th century. The castle archives contain documents attesting to the presence of vines since the 15th century. The estate belongs to the Charette family and was recently taken over by Quentin de Charette.
The region of Burgundy, also known as Bourgogne, has a rich and opulent history. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the Grand Duchy of Burgundy reached as far as Belgium and the North Sea, becoming renowned for its riches, culture, and wine. Building on vineyards planted by the Romans and later cultivated by medieval monks, the region established a winemaking legacy that endures today. Despite being geographically small, Burgundy produces some of the most expensive and sought-after wines in the world, its limestone soils lending them a uniquely appetising minerality that sets a Burgundy apart from its peers.
The largest and most extensive regional appellation in Burgundy, the Bourgogne AOC sits at the base of the region's quality pyramid beneath the Grand Cru, Premier Cru, and village levels. It covers red, white, and rosé wines from wine-producing communes across the Yonne, Saône-et-Loire, Rhône, and Côte-d'Or départements. Made predominantly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the grapes come either from younger vineyards still gaining complexity or from fine plots that fall just outside more prestigious appellations. Beautifully crafted by some of Burgundy's most respected producers, these wines often over-deliver, showcasing the region's classic character and diversity of terroir.
