Vinification	Once ripened to an optimum level, the grapes are harvested and quickly transported to the cellar. The extraction process is gentle to obtain silky tannins while preserving the delicious fruitiness of the Syrah grapes and their spicy notes, which are typical to the northern Rhône Valley. The ageing involves moderate oxidation, to enhance these flavours.

Famille Gaillard

Pierre Gaillard, after studying Viticulture and Enology and bought his first vineyard in 1981. The Gaillard Family own 4 vineyards across Rhone, Roussillon, and across southern France.

The Pierre Gaillard vineyard is located in the northern part of the Rhone Valley, ranging from Cote-Rotie down through to Cornas in the South, this vineyard is made up of 25 hectares, situated on the steep slopes. The grape varieties grown are Viognier and Roussanne. This Madeloc Vineyard is made up of 29 hectares, with a large variety of grapes including Vermentino and Grenache Noir. The vineyards are overlooking the sea. The eldest daughter of Pierre and Pascale Gaillard, Jeanne took the plunge in 2008 when she acquired around fifteen hectares of vines. Today, she produces both frank and gourmet wines in IGP Collines Rhodaniennes as well as great wines for laying down in AOC Saint-Joseph!

Region – Rhone

The Rhône Valley is home to some of the oldest vineyards in the world, with wine production dating back to Greek occupation in the 4th century BC and thriving under the Romans; it was later revived when the papacy moved to Avignon in the fourteenth century, giving Châteauneuf-du-Pape ('the Pope's new castle') its name. The Northern Rhône is home to prestigious names such as Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, and Hermitage - small-production wines of exceptional quality - where Syrah is the sole red grape and whites come from Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne. The larger, warmer Southern Rhône is best known for the bold Châteauneuf-du-Pape and its rival Gigondas, alongside excellent-value names such as Vacqueyras, Rasteau, and Cairanne. Its wines are predominantly red, built chiefly on Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre.

Appellation – Collines Rhodaniennes

An IGP in the northern Rhône Valley, covering vineyards scattered across the hills around prestigious appellations such as Côte-Rôtie. Established as an IGP in 2009, it holds fewer regulations than the region's AOCs, giving growers welcome freedom in variety and style. Syrah is by far the most planted grape, accounting for around 67% of the area, producing peppery, fresh, and fruit-forward reds, alongside whites from Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne.
