Full-bodied and powerful with a deep garnet robe and black fruit aromas including blackcurrant and blackberry. The grapes for this cuvée came from vines of 65 years old and over. It was matured in oak barrels for 10 months.
Harvest in mid-September. Grapes picked manually as the Beaujolais semi carbonic winemaking process requires that the bunches be whole. From old vines of mainly 75 years or older. Pressing after 12 days of vatting. Malo-lactic fermentation and maturing in oak barrels for 10 months.
From a winemaking family spanning 5 generations, Lilian Matray, his wife Sandrine and his daughter Célia work the family estate. The estate buildings are in Juliénas, a charming little Beaujolais village, while the estate’s vines grow on 11 hectares of slopes that are not only in the Juliénas appellation area. The variety of the soils give the very typical, fruity Beaujolais aromas and flavours of each specific appellation.
