The Domaine Gilles Guerrin is located in Vergisson in the heart of the Burgundy Mâconnais crus - a small village between the famous rocks of the same name and Solutré. Region and Appellation Information
Burgundy

Region – Burgundy

The region of Burgundy, also known as Bourgogne, has a rich and opulent history. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the Grand Duchy of Burgundy reached as far as Belgium and the North Sea, becoming renowned for its riches, culture, and wine. Building on vineyards planted by the Romans and later cultivated by medieval monks, the region established a winemaking legacy that endures today. Despite being geographically small, Burgundy produces some of the most expensive and sought-after wines in the world, its limestone soils lending them a uniquely appetising minerality that sets a Burgundy apart from its peers.

Appellation – Pouilly-Fuisse

Arguably the best-known appellation of the Maconnais, Pouilly-Fuisse produces rich, bold white wines made exclusively from Chardonnay. Created by the INAO in 1936, it covers four villages - Chaintre, Fuisse, Solutre-Pouilly, and Vergisson - across 760 hectares of limestone and clay soils, watched over by the famous Roche de Solutre. Most wines are aged in oak, gaining colour, richness, and aromatic complexity, with notes of golden apple, white flowers, and warm brown spices over a softer acidity. The finest examples come from the 22 Premier Cru vineyards recognised in 2020.
