Few grape varieties command quite the same respect as the so-called 'King of Grapes' - Cabernet Sauvignon. From the grand châteaux of Bordeaux to the sun-drenched vineyards of the Languedoc and the rugged terroirs of the South West, it is a variety that speaks clearly of where it comes from. To mark International Cabernet Sauvignon Day, we've pulled together six bottles from across our range - 3 Cabernet monocepage and 3 Cabernet blends - that showcase the variety at its most varied and compelling.

Languedoc - Pays d'Oc

A pure Cabernet Sauvignon from one of our favourite Languedoc producers. The nose is expressive and fruit-forward — blackcurrant, dark cherry, and a hint of cedar — with a firm but well-managed tannic structure on the palate and a clean, lingering finish.

South West - Cotes de Gascogne
'La Pytare'

Gascony is better known for its whites, but La Pytare is a compelling argument for the region's red wine credentials. Twelve months in French oak lend this Cabernet Sauvignon real depth and complexity - dark cherry, blackcurrant, and cedar spice, with a structured, age-worthy palate.

Languedoc - Cotes de Prouilhe

A pure Languedoc Cabernet Sauvignon from the Côtes de Prouilhe, sitting in the rolling hills between Carcassonne and the Pyrenees. Fresh, fruit-driven, and immediately approachable with red and black fruits, a touch of spice, and soft tannin.

Bordeaux - Pessac-Leognan

Pessac-Léognan is Cabernet Sauvignon country, and this majority Cabernet/Merlot blend from La Chapelle Haut Nouchet delivers everything you'd hope for from this prestigious appellation. Stewed ripe fruit, silky tannins, and spicy, woody aromas with hints of pastry - opulent and beautifully balanced, with the structure to develop further in the bottle.

'O Grand R'

Something a little different - a blend of Négrette and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Fronton appellation north of Toulouse, where the two varieties have long found a natural affinity. The Cabernet brings structure and focus to the aromatic, fruit-driven Négrette, resulting in a wine of real personality and regional character.
