Chateau Arthus is located in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation in Bordeaux. This 10 hectare vineyard has been owned by Miriam and Jean-Denis Salvert since 2000. The main vines grown are Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and average an age of 45 years.
Situated in the beautiful South-West of France, Bordeaux is one of the country's largest wine-growing areas, covering over 125,000 hectares. With the Atlantic to the west, its coastal temperatures are moderated by the Gulf Stream, making it an ideal place for vines to thrive. The region produces a staggering 900 million bottles a year, ranging from large quantities of common Vin de Pays to some of the most prestigious and expensive wines in the world.
A Right Bank appellation in Bordeaux, located just east of Saint-Émilion, whose winemaking traditions and terroir it shares closely. It is built chiefly on Merlot and Cabernet Franc, producing full-bodied, fruit-forward reds with ripe dark fruit, firm structure, and good ageing potential. The region is notable for its strong commitment to sustainability, with one of the highest concentrations of organic, biodynamic, and self-sustaining vineyards in Bordeaux. Having gained AOC status in 1989 as Côtes de Castillon, it joined the Côtes de Bordeaux family in 2008.
