Region and Appellation Information
Beaujolais

Region – Beaujolais

Offering a deep ruby red, Beaujolais is more than just a wine; it's an agricultural region that produces as many as 2.3 billion bottles of red wine per year. This French wine is renowned for its fruity taste and robust structure and has been popular since the 19th century. Beaujolais wines are also rich in pigments of carotenoids which give the wines their characteristic dark purple hue. The wine is typically made from the Gamay grape which is one of the darkest of red grapes.

Appellation – Beaujolais Blanc

The white wine of the Beaujolais region, Beaujolais Blanc is made almost entirely from Chardonnay rather than the Gamay that dominates the area's famous reds. Grown mostly in the northern part of the region, where the soils shift towards the limestone and clay found in neighbouring Mâconnais, it produces fresh, unoaked or lightly oaked whites.
