Region and Appellation Information
Beaujolais

Region – Beaujolais

Offering a deep ruby red, Beaujolais is more than just a wine; it's an agricultural region that produces as many as 2.3 billion bottles of red wine per year. This French wine is renowned for its fruity taste and robust structure and has been popular since the 19th century. Beaujolais wines are also rich in pigments of carotenoids which give the wines their characteristic dark purple hue. The wine is typically made from the Gamay grape which is one of the darkest of red grapes.

Appellation – Brouilly

The largest of the Beaujolais Crus, and named after Brulius, a Roman lieutenant who settled here, Brouilly has 1,200 hectares of land located in the south of the Beaujolais region, surrounding Mont Brouilly (a dormant volcano, which in turn has its own Cru, Côte de Brouilly).

The characteristics of a Brouilly wine are typically light, fruity, and slightly earthy, with its aromas encompassing a variety of fruits including cherry and currant, and a purple colouring.
