Chateau de Rousset

Chateau de Rousset from Haute-Provence in the recently formed AOC of Pierrevert has wines that are very distinct in character. Region and Appellation Information
Provence

Region – Provence

A vast area in south-eastern France, stretching from Arles to Nice and from the Luberon to the Alpes-Maritimes in the foothills of the Alps. Its wines are shaped by the warm Mediterranean climate and the famous 'mistral' wind, which plays an integral part in keeping the vineyards healthy. Provence produces red, white, and rosé, but is above all celebrated for its pale, dry, and elegant rosés, which are in high demand worldwide. With an extraordinary contrast of styles and a growing reputation for quality, the region has a promising future.

Appellation – Alpes-de-Haute-Provence

Covering red, white, and rosé wines from a mountainous area of south-eastern France, near the Mediterranean coast and bordering Italy. Its scattered vineyards lie on the valley slopes along the Durance river, at high altitudes where warm, sunny days and cool nights help the grapes develop sugar while retaining freshness, producing aromatic, light wines. Nearly half the output is Provençal-style rosé, blended chiefly from Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault, alongside red blends and single-varietal whites from Vermentino (Rolle) and Viognier. The region also contains one AOC, Coteaux de Pierrevert, which gained its status in 1998.
