Cote de Nuits: Meix de la Poulotte Vosne Romanee Red

The region of Burgundy, also known as Bourgogne, has a rich and opulent history. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the Grand Duchy of Burgundy reached as far as Belgium and the North Sea, becoming renowned for its riches, culture, and wine. Building on vineyards planted by the Romans and later cultivated by medieval monks, the region established a winemaking legacy that endures today. Despite being geographically small, Burgundy produces some of the most expensive and sought-after wines in the world, its limestone soils lending them a uniquely appetising minerality that sets a Burgundy apart from its peers.

The Côte de Nuits, the northern half of the Côte d'Or, produces a majority of red wines and is a Pinot Noir heaven, home to most of Burgundy's Grands Crus. White wines are less common here but of great quality, made from Chardonnay. Running from just south of Dijon towards the Côte de Beaune, its narrow, east-facing limestone slopes give reds of remarkable structure, depth, and ageing potential, with floral aromas and notes of blackcurrant, cherry, and quince. This is the source of some of the most prestigious red wines in the world.
