Petit Chablis: Dampt Freres Sur Les Clos

The region of Burgundy, also known as Bourgogne, has a rich and opulent history. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the Grand Duchy of Burgundy reached as far as Belgium and the North Sea, becoming renowned for its riches, culture, and wine. Building on vineyards planted by the Romans and later cultivated by medieval monks, the region established a winemaking legacy that endures today. Despite being geographically small, Burgundy produces some of the most expensive and sought-after wines in the world, its limestone soils lending them a uniquely appetising minerality that sets a Burgundy apart from its peers.

Petit Chablis is one of the best-kept secrets of Chablis, made exclusively from Chardonnay on the cooler, north- and west-facing sites where grapes ripen least easily. Planted in limestone, sandy, and silty soils at elevations of 230 to 280 metres, its vineyards produce wines of pronounced freshness and minerality. Almost always fermented in stainless steel with no oak, Petit Chablis is crisp and best enjoyed young. Expect an aromatic profile of lemon and grapefruit, with notes of white peach, white flowers, and flint.
